Local Removal Firm Saves The Day For Elderly Couple's House Move

Local removal firm steps in at last minute to save elderly couple’s house move…

Here at Regal Estates we have taken all the necessary steps to follow the government guidelines on social distancing, including arranging for our staff to work from home, and setting up video valuations and virtual viewings.

However, with the guidelines changing daily, sometimes situations that we thought would be acceptable a week ago become more challenging.

When our clients exchanged on the sale of their house and purchase of their new one on 16th March no one could have imagined that less than 2 weeks later we would all be working from home, and keeping our distance for the health and wellbeing of our families, friends, neighbours and colleagues.

But on Wednesday when cabinet minister Michael Gove announced that people should, if possible, pause sales, our client’s removal company cancelled giving them 48 hours’ notice, leaving our elderly clients worried and frightened about the implications this would have if they were unable to complete on time.

However, further research found that Simon Davis, president of the Law Society of England and Wales, was advising that “if transactions have been committed to, they should go ahead.” And so we felt it would be acceptable for the move to continue as long as all parties followed the current guidelines in respect of public health, that being that the property was not being occupied with cases, or suspected cases of Covid-19, occupants were not being in a state of isolation, and all parties would abide to social distancing requirements.

But the challenge was to find a removal company at such short notice. After a stellar effort from Rachael, our sales progressor (all from the safety of her home!) local firm Fox’s Moving and Storage were able to step in and save the day.

By the close of business Thursday our client’s possessions had been packed and moved into their new home ready for them to move in Friday.

We’d like to wish our clients every happiness and good health in their new home, and express our sincere thanks to Fox’s Moving and Storage for saving the day.
